ELKANITE PRODUCTS, BASED PRIMARILY ON SILVER, WITH FOUR PRINCIPLE AREAS OF APPLICATION:

CONTACTORS

The manufacture of contactors requires the use of contact materials that combine high electrical and thermal conductivity with good resistance to welding and wear. The ELKANITE DX series of silver-cadmium oxide materials fulfills all these requirements.

The MALLORY DN series of silver-nickel products is suitable for lighter duty contactor applications.

MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

The ELKANITE DF series of directional silver-graphite materials provides maximum resistance to contact welding on make, which is particularly attractive in current-limiting MCBs.

The ELKANITE RS series of silver-
tungsten materials is widely used in more traditional MCBs.

EARTH LEAKAGE CIRCUIT BREAKERS

The ELKANITE DX range of contact materials provides the user with an unsurpassed combination of high conductivity and resistance to both welding and erosion over a wide range of operating conditions.

Most ELCB designers specify the ELKANITE DX series of silver-cadmium oxide materials because of their anti-weld characteristics.
These materials contain a minimum of 85% silver by weight.

CIRCUIT BREAKERS

Safe and reliable switching of the very high currents encountered in industrial circuit breakers requires the use of materials which are extremely resistant to arc erosion and welding. Tungsten, with a melting point in excess of 3,300ºC, provides the basis for the ELKANITE RS range of silver-tungsten materials designed to handle such demanding applications. The ELKANITE RG series of silver-tungsten carbide materials gives circuit breakers improved stability of contact resistance without significantly compromising resistance to arcing and welding. These materials can also be used in applications where temperature rise under load must be minimised.

The ELKANITE RW series of copper-tungsten products offers the customer maximum economy whilst retaining good conductivity and resistance to arcing within the circuit breaker. These products are typically operated in a protective environment as in SF6 or oil-immersed circuit breakers.
